PSYCHOSOCIAL RISK
As part of an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, ISO 45003:2021 gives guidelines on the management of risks and promoting well-being at work. ISO 45003 is meant to be used in conjunction with ISO 45001, which provides standards and recommendations for designing, implementing, assessing, evaluating, and developing an OH&S management system.
Psychosocial risks are associated with the organization of work, social dynamics at work, and characteristics of the work environment, equipment, and hazardous jobs. Psychosocial dangers can exist in all types of organizations and industries, as well as in all types of job duties, equipment, and employment arrangements. Psychosocial risks can coexist with one another and impact and be influenced by other hazards. Psychosocial risk refers to the potential for these risks to have a variety of effects on human health, safety, and well-being, as well as organizational performance and sustainability.
Psychosocial risks must be handled in the same way as other OH&S risks, using an OH&S management system, and incorporated into the organization's larger business activities. Psychosocial hazards have an impact on both psychological health and safety, as well as overall health, safety, and well-being at work. Organizational and societal expenses are also related with psychosocial hazards. There are several words used to describe what psychosocial hazards influence, including "psychological health" and "mental health." In this standard, these phrases have the same meaning.
